21.1.1 Determine the Best Technology for Accepting Credit/Debit Cards
Policy Statement
There are a variety of approved methods and technologies available to your unit for processing credit and debit card transactions. You must either use one of the approved methods or have your proposed method approved by Merchant Card Services before you can accept credit/debit cards.
Procedure
To determine the best technology for accepting credit/debit cards:
- Consult Getting Started at the Merchant Card Services website for information on the three types of technology available.
- Consult with Merchant Card Services (merchantcardhelp@uillinois.edu or 217-244-9384). They will help you analyze your business needs and find the best technology to meet those needs. Be prepared to discuss the details of your business. This can take some time so plan ahead.
